How it's calculated
fuel required = distance ÷ mileage
estimated cost = fuel required × fuel price
Turning on round trip doubles the distance before either calculation runs, so the fuel and cost figures already account for the return leg.
Example: 100 km at 15 km/L and ₹100/L needs 6.67 L, costing about ₹667.
Getting a realistic mileage figure
The manufacturer-quoted mileage is usually measured under ideal conditions and rarely matches everyday driving. For a more accurate estimate, use a figure from your own fuel logs — total distance driven divided by total fuel used over a few fill-ups — rather than the number on the brochure.

How is fuel required calculated?
Distance divided by mileage. At 15 km per litre, a 100 km trip needs 100 ÷ 15 ≈ 6.67 litres.
What does the round-trip toggle do?
It doubles the distance before either calculation runs, so the fuel and cost figures already cover the return leg — you don't need to double the result yourself.
Does this account for traffic, terrain or driving style?
No — it applies the mileage figure you provide uniformly across the whole distance. Real-world mileage varies with all of those, so treat the result as an estimate, not a guaranteed cost.
What is cost per kilometre useful for?
Comparing trips or vehicles on a like-for-like basis — a shorter but less efficient trip can cost more per kilometre than a longer, more efficient one.
